We all know who are the best players in the NBA, but these superstars come at a premium price in daily fantasy. Monty Andrews is here to help you find the best bang for your buck when shopping for high-priced talent.
Here are the top high-salary daily fantasy options for this week in the NBA:
Tuesday - C Hassan Whiteside, Heat (vs. Suns)
Matchups don't get much better than this for one of the league's most prolific fantasy centers. Whiteside averages an unbelievable 17.9 points, 15 rebounds and 2.3 blocks at home so far this season, and will be facing a Suns unit that has allowed an average of 56 FanDuel points to opposing centers over the past 10 games entering Monday. Don't overreact to the possibility of early foul trouble or a potential blowout - this is a no-brainer play with tremendous tournament upside and a sky-high floor.
Wednesday - PG John Wall, Wizards (vs. Hawks)
Wall is a terrific option Wednesday night as he and the Wizards tangle with an Atlanta team that surrenders more than 50 FanDuel points per game to opposing point guards - one of only eight NBA teams to do so. With a 39-point game and a 20-assist showing in separate games over the past 11 days, Wall is capable of big games at any time - and while his averages in three games against the Hawks this season (17.3 points, 8.3 assists, 6.3 rebounds) don't scream fantasy stud, his floor is elite.
Thursday - C Jusuf Nurkic, Trail Blazers (at Knicks)
Only four teams allow 50 or more FanDuel points to opposition centers - and the Knicks are one of them, which bodes very well for Nurkic. The 22-year-old has been a steady source of fantasy scoring this month, averaging 15.0 points, 10.3 rebounds, 3.6 assists, 2.5 blocks and 1.3 steals in 10 March games. That kind of across-the-board production is rare from a center, making Nurkic a must-have even with his soaring price tag. The Knicks shouldn't provide much resistance in this one.
Friday - PG Isaiah Thomas, Celtics (vs. Suns)
Thomas is an interesting play in daily fantasy, as the majority of his scoring comes from straight point production. In that sense, he isn't a great tournament play - after all, how much upside does he really have? - but is a terrific cash-game option in the right matchup. And this one is about as good as it gets, with the visiting Suns giving up the fifth-most FanDuel points to point guards. Thomas should light up the scoreboard sufficiently to warrant use in the majority of your cash-game lineups.
Saturday - SF LeBron James, Cavaliers (vs. Wizards)
This late in the season, it's reasonable to expect James to see plenty of rest compared to earlier in the campaign - but he'll see all the action he can handle in Saturday's tilt with the Wizards. Washington has brought out the best in James, who is averaging 29.5 points, 11 assists, 8.5 rebounds, two blocks and two steals in a pair of meeting this season. Look for similar results this weekend as James looks to bolster both his MVP candidacy and the Cavaliers' grip on top spot in the Eastern Conference.
Sunday - SG James Harden, Rockets (vs. Thunder)
Daily fantasy players have a big decision to make Sunday: do they go with the human triple-double machine in Russell Westbrook, or with fellow stat sheet stuffer Harden? You probably can't go wrong either way, but Harden offers similar upside to his former teammate at a slight discount. Harden has averaged 20 points, 12.3 assists, 8.0 rebounds and two steals against OKC this season, and should improve on his 29.1 percent shooting rate vs. the Thunder. Roll with him in all formats.
